Décrire les gens

Using both a positive and a negative characteristic, describe six different people: a woman, a man, a boy, a girl, you and me. Ex. The man is not rich. He is poor.

L'homme n'est pas riche. Il est pauvre. La femme n'est pas une homme. Elle est une femme. La femme n'est pas jeune et le garcon n'est pas vieux. La fille n'est pas mince. Elle est grosse. L'homme n'est pas grand. Il est petit. La femme n'est pas petite. Elle est grande.

    Erik.
Great job Eric! Couple things, (1) un homme, (2) although the lessons say otherwise, we tend to use indefinite articles (un/une/des) after the expression "c'est" as opposed to "il/elle est." See you around!

as Eric said, we learned in french class that "C'est.." is used when naming something.

    (ex. C'est une femme.)

& il/elle is used when describing somthing. (like using an adjective.)

    (ex. Elle est petite.)

and you probably know this but i'll add this anyway:

un = masculine (such as "a")

une = feminine (such as "a")

des = some (we'll often omit this in english, but as my teacher says, the french are article happy.)

le = masculine (such as "the")

la = feminine (such as "the")

les = plural (such as "the" but w/ plural objects - "the cats"

    hopefully that helped! =]

***anyone who knows better feel free to correct me since i've only had a little experience with french (a year and a 1/2)
