Livemocha is looking for a senior Operations Engineer with a passion for technology, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment. The Livemocha Operations team provides systems management and administration, technical support and training, technology selection and acquisition, and development and application of IT policies and standards. The Lead Operations Engineer will report to the Vice President of Engineering and be responsible for day-to-day operations of Livemocha’s production infrastructure across multiple data centers and cloud hosted services.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of four years experience as a Linux/Unix Systems Administrator with at least three years supporting a highly available, 24×7 production environment..
  • Advanced knowledge of network communications protocols and troubleshooting commands and tools.
  • Deep expertise in the operation, tuning, and support of web based service delivery.
  • Deep expertise in network and application monitoring and alarm systems.
  • Familiarity with various database technologies and their system requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and also as a member of a small team.
  • Deep knowledge of Amazon Web Services and CDN management.
  • Awareness of NoSQL services and their administration.
  • SFluent in at least one administrative language (Bash, Python, Java, Ruby).
