Saturday Morning Music – All eyes on England

The Olympics are up and running and in honor of these games’ host country, let’s play some music by some great English artists. There are so many to choose from, but for today let’s get us some of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Clash, Depeche Mode, Adele, Amy Winehouse, and of course David Bowie.

  I believe that all of these singers and band members were ENGLISH with the exceptions of
  Christian Eigner ( Austrian ) of DEPECHE_MODE and possibly Joe Mellor of the CLASH.
  John Mellor ( Joe Strummer ) was born in Turkey of British parents and possibly the only Scottish representative as his mother was a scot. Of interest -- his grandfather was Armenian, his grandmother was a German jew and his father was born in Lucknow, India ( coincidentally Cliff Richard’s birthplace )

    The flag used is the Union flag. Also, you have to realise that the Scottish, Welsh and Irish feel a bit left out when this common and often lazy mistake is made.

My only comment would be that the flag is the Union Flag of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (or the UK) commonly called the Union Jack. If this music is about England as opposed to the UK, then the flag that should be shown would be the flag of St George which is a red cross on a white background.
