We love what we do here at Livemocha. We are teachers. We are students. We share a passion for language, for culture, and for helping our ever-growing international community of language learners connect in meaningful ways. We are proud to be a part of our community members’ lives and to be able to help them achieve their goals: be they for work, for travel, or just for the love of language.

As in any community, however, whether real or virtual, there are sometimes bad actors: people who misbehave, who break the rules, or who act inappropriately.  As expected in a community of over 14 million active users, the same can be true on Livemocha. And while we can’t control peoples’ decisions, we can address and monitor the results of their actions.

That being said, we have just implemented a new moderation system to abate the results of bad behavior on Livemocha and to address the rare but existing instances of those who post unsavory or inappropriate images on their profiles. Since judging a picture is an innately human act, we have compiled a dedicated, worldwide team to monitor and moderate all new images that are uploaded onto Livemocha.com. These processes that we are implementing will allow us to block this content as soon as it is identified.

We are grateful to community members who take the time to bring our attention to offensive images as our priority is to make Livemocha a fun, safe, comfortable place devoted to language learning.  If you do happen to see something in the short window of time between when something is posted and when it is moderated, you can send the offending link to support@livemocha.com, and it will be removed as soon as possible.

And with all of that taken care of, let’s get back to learning and practicing languages! Onward!
